Shell Arts Bus

The Shell Art Bus program was initiated in 2005 by Shell Refinery as part of its ongoing support of the Geelong Gallery and the community. The belief that an interest in art should be nurtured and accessable to all children led to the refinery providing a specialised comprehensive program for northern suburbs schools to introduce students to the Gallery's outstanding collection. Shell's support involves the refinery providing gallery memberships over three years to the schools in the program so that they may visit the gallery as often as they require.

Students who participate in the program enjoy the opportunity to work comprehensively with Education Officer, Susan Barlow, developing skills and creating works using a range of art mediums. Students work with both travelling and permanent exhibitions and are taught the fundamental techniques of colour, composition, perspective and interpretation.

The Geelong Gallery is very proud of the exceptional quality of the students' works in previous years and their impeccable behaviour during their time in the Gallery.

The Geelong Gallery would like to thank and congratulate all those involved in the participation and running of the Shell Art Bus Program.
