About the Gallery

The Geelong Gallery is one of Victoria's premier regional galleries. It is a public institution managed by the Board of the Geelong Art Gallery Inc for the benefit of the community.

The Gallery's marvellous collection of approximately 4,000 works of art belongs to the people of Geelong, and membership of the Gallery is open to individuals, families and businesses.

The Gallery's original neoclassical building dating from 1913 has been extended on four occasions in 1928, 1937-38, 1956 and 1971. In 1999-2000 a Centenary of Federation grant from the Commonwealth of Australia funded a comprehensive refurbishment of the Gallery and the installation of state-of-the-art infrastructure.
