Join Dr Kirsty Harris for an intriguing insight into the work of nurses in the Australian Army Nursing Service during World War I, which draws on personal diaries, interviews, service records and hospital diaries. Copies of Harris’ award-winning book, More Than Bombs and Bandages: Australian Army nurses at work in World War I, will be available for purchase in the Gallery Shop for $34.99. A book signing will follow the talk.
The First Fridays series of inspiring talks are fundraising events for the Friends of the Geelong Gallery and begin at 10.30am with coffee, tea and scones before an illustrated lecture at 11.00am. No bookings required. Cost—Members $10 / Non-members $12.
