Marie Antoinette through the Notebook—Marion Manifold explores female body image and the life of one of the most famous women in history.
This collection of large-scale linocuts originated during a three month residency in Paris where Marion Manifold researched the Notebook of Ladies Attire in the Archives Nationales. The Notebook, which contains fabric swatches, was presented to Marie Antoinette—Queen consort to Louis XVI of France—who pricked the pages with a pin to choose her daily attire.
