Geelong Gallery is pleased to announce the forthcoming exhibition, A curious nature—the landscape as theatre in contemporary photography and new media, which will be on display from 24 November to 10 February.
This striking exhibition of still and moving images features 23 works by seven contemporary Australian artists who explore the landscape as the setting for elaborate narratives, often from a peculiar or absurdist nature.
Each of the photo-media artists Kate Bernauer, Siri Hayes, Gabriella Mangano & Silvana Mangano, Polixeni Papapetrou, Jacqui Stockdale and Christian Thompson either perform themselves or direct others as characters within the natural or urban landscape or in their studio in front of a painted backdrop.
