Youth Ambassador program

An exciting opportunity for young people aged 18 to 30 years old living in the G21 region to gain a valuable learning experience and an understanding of arts industry knowledge, operations and leadership skills through a specialised training program coinciding with Geelong Gallery’s upcoming exhibition Cutting Through Time—Cressida Campbell, Margaret Preston, and the Japanese Print (18 May to 28 July 2024).

Aims and objectives of the Youth Ambassador Program:

• Connect and empower young people through arts, training and wellbeing initiatives
• Provide valuable work experience
• Provide connections across diverse communities to promote use of and public ownership of Geelong Gallery
• Increase participants confidence and self-esteem, social belonging through acquisition of new skills
• Increase understanding of industry operations and professional development
• Providing paid employment

Key dates:

• Program commences on Thursday 16 May until Sunday 28 July 2024
• All participants will need to be available to attend training at Geelong Gallery on Thursday 16 May, from 2.30pm to 5.30pm
• Work experience: 1 x 4-hour shifts shadowing a Gallery volunteer and Visitor service member to gain experience in exhibition invigilation, ticketing and events
• 4 x 4-hour paid casual positions during the exhibition (May to July 2024)
