Dr Richard Gillespie, Honorary Principal Fellow in Historical and Philosophical Studies at The University of Melbourne, and author of The Great Melbourne Telescope (2011) discusses the 150th anniversary of the Great Melbourne Telescope.
Erected at the Melbourne Observatory in 1869, it was the second largest reflecting telescope in the world at the time and the largest steerable telescope in the world for decades.
