Hoda Afshar
Hoda Afshar investigates the conventions and possibilities of documentary image-making, merging aspects of conceptual, staged and documentary photography and moving image to interrogate the politics of representation, gender, and displacement.
The series Behold was made while the artist was travelling in the Middle East and befriended a group of young gay men who invited her to photograph them in a local male-only bathhouse.
