Wildflowers on Nail Can 2021
oil on canvas
Courtesy of the artist and Manyung Gallery Group, Malvern
After a wetter than usual spring, last summer saw the wildflowers on Nail Can hill reserve bloom in abundance. I often hike around the fire trails and I was taken by the delicate subtlety of the flowers against the backdrop of the gumtrees. With this painting (which is part of a larger series), my aim was to capture the nuanced sensation of patterns and light in our native bush land.
