Artist statement:

I made this book out of anger.
And in response to the protest March 4
Women’s March for Justice in Australia and globally.

In Solidarity
I made small prints of women.
I applied my inks to plates and pushed the ink around.
Women were pushed off the page, crammed into corners, their emotions, raw. Women of all ages, stuck, unable to speak.

I read many women’s stories, about their sexual assault experiences in workplaces. The words ‘what needs to happen’? kept swirling around in my head.
I compiled my women into a book format.
I wrote words, quickly, in my non preferred hand to
emphasise a rambling incoherent scrawl.
A book that could be held, but also awkward to hold.
Awkward, in the sense that domestic violence is difficult to talk about.

How do we instigate change and open up conversations that offer respect and trust?
