Statement:

Zilverster is a collaborative project between Melbourne-based artists Sharon Goodwin and Irene Hanenbergh. Their collaboration since 2010 has evolved into a rich practice that extends the potentialities of each artist’s work. Zilverster creates intricate drawings, sculptural objects and spatial installations that navigate shared interests in (art) history, fantasy, cult iconography, alchemy, supernatural phenomena, and (mostly tedious) everyday corporate work environments.

Sorry I’m late extends utopian ideas by utilising instantly recognisable elements such as laboured office workers’ scribbles and contemporary corporate slogans, subsequently mixing these with historical lithographs promoting ‘Travel and Tourism’ from the early 20th century (as utilitarian advertising tools). The composition brings these disparate elements together in a slightly awkward looking pencil drawing—yet its final production as a three-colour lithograph with chine collé transforms it into a somewhat authoritative declamation.
