Artist statement:

Wandering Wannon is inspired by the vast and differing landscape of the Western District of Victoria. From Harrow to Hamilton, the distinct Red Gums stand tall and strong. The Wannon River and waterfalls Wannon and Nigretta link the contrasting flat and volcanic landscape south of Hamilton. Gridded patterns of paddocks with stone fences and rows of trees are interspersed with volcanic lava blisters and caves, a reminder of how ancient the land is. In the foreground Mount Rouse stands near Penshurst’s buildings and the Botanic Garden's natural spring, a constant water source for millennia. In a windswept landscape Gariwerd stands majestic in the distance.
