Artist statement:

Studio selfie 3 began as a straightforward self-portrait set in a benign studio setting. I then reconfigured the blocks into a new image to express my fears over the state of our natural world. Between the original printing in 2016 and the new re-worked image in 2023 my outlook on life has become even darker, with an ever-increasing alarm over the existential threats of pandemic and environmental degradation. On re-visiting the print, I have concentrated less on my likeness and more on attempting to convey a sense of impending catastrophe. The original print was a multi-block linocut and the re-worked image was achieved by hand-colouring with pencil.
