Artist statement:

Through my playful style, Bedroom and High heels explore Queer culture and identity by utilising the artform of ceramics. Inspired by Stephen Benwell and Leigh Bowery, my intention was to create spontaneously, allowing myself to lose control and let go of the fear of messing up. This resulted in a bright and abstract outcome that incorporates my naïve personal style.

The reoccurring motifs of high heels and gender non-conforming figures, communicate ideas of power and fluidity between masculine and feminine, reinforcing binary stereotypes. The figures are predominantly nude; this communicates the raw true love my characters feel towards themselves, reflecting my identity and the acceptance I feel for myself as a proud Queer person.
