With Buoy and Orbit, Tilden appeals to the wider world outside the domain of the constructed mechanism. With its irregularly alternating glass discs in three sizes, Orbit conjures a constellation (somewhere, anywhere) and even how in social life we revolve around each other, unpredictably. Buoy not only returns us to the sea, but signals the joyous bobbing immersion in water.
