In Australian artist Louise Weaver's most recent solo exhibition, Ecstatic Horizon (202S), she presented a series of abstract paintings inspired by nature and informed by ecological and feminist discourses. Through subtle gradations of colour and tone, in each painting and across the series, she orchestrated an immersive environment to stimulate the sensation of being in nature and in landscapes. 

Weaver's work is inspired by numerous and diverse art historical precedents. In these recent paintings we see the influence of Claude Monet and the principles of French Impressionism. Weaver's innovative use of Koza paper-commonly used in ukiyo-e printmaking for its strength, absorbency and pliability-links materially and conceptually to Monet's fascination with the medium and his prized personal collection of ukiyo-e, actively collected from the 1860s.
