Artist statement:

In the present is a reflective self-portrait that explores my personal emotions around the flow and movement of time. By painting myself, I am reflecting on my own perception of my physical appearance. The artwork conveys what it feels like to be a young person today, and the constant feeling of underachievement as time is slipping away. The work is about overcoming these fears, by facing time head-on and allowing it to flow around me. The dog peers over my shoulder as we both face time together.
