Artist statement:
I use the character of Beany to represent myself, but he is also his own entity in my work. Beany is inspired by loving creatures big and small. Beany’s world is one which I have wanted to be a part of since I was young. The first drawings of Beany can be found in a 2014 diary entry, and have since then taken the form of synthetic polymer paint, digital illustration, sculpture, gouache, tattoo and animation. Beany is a nod to the relatably mundane tasks: walking to the shops for milk, paying a water bill, or lying down in a park. Beany romanticises these moments, inviting you to find joy in the small, often overlooked moments of your day.
