Pattern Play
Inspired by contemporary artist Elizabeth Gower, Pattern Play explored geometry to create striking optical patterns with colour, texture and photographs.
Gower is one of Australia’s most acclaimed contemporary artists with a career spanning forty years. Using hand-cut remnants from advertising materials and everyday products adhered to drafting film, canvas, boards and walls, the artist creates a multitude of designs that reference patterns from the natural world and the built environment.
Inspired by this process, the Pattern Play application simulates the artist’s labour-intensive processes to create unique digital patterns which were incorporated into a collaborative artwork, on display in the Gallery for the duration of the exhibition.
