New works
Commissioned by Geelong Gallery, the major new work The Last Judgement 2025 is inspired by the Christian religion’s day of reckoning. Across six painted panels Lewer brings together Gospel texts attributed to Jesus’s final hours with autobiographical imagery. In this, and additional commissioned paintings in which key religious figures and narratives are positioned within prominent Melbourne and Geelong locations, the universal coexists with the personal and local inviting consideration of the role of faith in everyday life.
