Artist statement: 

I painted van Gogh because he is an interesting artist and very influential in art history. I really like his style of art, 'impressionism'. I wanted to paint someone old and with a somewhat fascinating face. He inspires me because his paintings look amazing with all the colours. I sort of get impressionism, the broken line style and bright colours.
