Our Access programs provide specialised arts programs that engage participants with Geelong Gallery exhibitions, events and the collection.

Please contact the Gallery to enquire about our guided–tours and specific access events and programs (including Art + Memory and Art + Connect) that can be tailored to meet your needs. All bookings required at least two weeks in advance.

Visiting Geelong Gallery

You can access Geelong Gallery via the main entrance, located at 55 Little Malop St, Geelong. Please download our Pre-visit information to plan your visit to the Gallery. You can also view the building online in our 360° virtual tour.

Parking

Accessible free and ticketed disabled parking is available on Little Malop Street.

Wheelchairs

Wheelchairs are available at no charge from reception. To reserve a chair for your visit, please phone our Visitor Services team: 03 5229 3645

Toilets

All-Gender, wheelchair access, baby change, female and male toilets can be found on the lower level of Geelong Gallery, to the right of the staircases. Wheelchair access is via the lift.

Guide Dogs

Guide Dogs and other registered assistance dogs are welcome in all spaces at Geelong Gallery.

Braille and raised letter signage

All facilities way-finding signage at Geelong Gallery include Braille and raised letters.

Audio labels

Audio labels are available on selected works in the Gallery’s permanent collection and exhibitions. Look out for the QR codes located next to the works of art. All labels are read by a Geelong Gallery Guide—part of a diverse group of volunteer community members dedicated to life long and inclusive learning.

Relaxed visits

Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9.00am to 10.00am

Relaxed sessions are available during Cutting Through Time—Cressida Campbell, Margaret Preston, and the Japanese Print for anyone who would benefit from a quieter experience before normal business hours. This includes, but is not limited to, people with autism, sensory sensitivities, Tourette’s syndrome, learning disabilities or dementia, as well as people living with mobility challenges, anxiety or people who have experienced trauma.

Auslan tour

Wednesday 22 May, 11.00am to 12.00pm

Join Auslan Art Educator Irene Holub for an Auslan (Australian Sign Language) tour of Cutting Through Time—Cressida Campbell, Margaret Preston, and the Japanese Print―explore works of art and participate in an inclusive group discussion.

The session is accessible for Deaf and Hard of Hearing visitors.

These group-based tours provide individuals living with early to mid-stage dementia a supportive environment to foster meaningful and intellectual engagement and place value on participants’ own personal connections to works of art.

Art + Connect: outreach

Geelong Gallery will visit your community organisation, aged care facility, or nursing home to facilitate group-based discussions, looking at works of art from the Gallery’s permanent collection. The program promotes health and well-being through visual and intellectual stimulation for people who are affected by barriers of access to arts, culture and learning activities due to factors of mobility, economic disadvantage and social context, transportation, mental health and isolation.

Meet Orby—your Geelong Gallery tour guide.

Pick up an iPad from the Visitor Services desk and go on an augmented reality journey through the Gallery to learn more about the works of art on display.

Orby's user interface was designed with accessible features including subtitles that can be customised with a dyslexia-friendly font.

These free, self-guided tours, explore key works from the Gallery's collection including Eugene von Guerard’s View of Geelong 1856, Frederick McCubbin’s A bush burial 1890, Danila Vassilieff‘s Children playing, Collingwood c. 1937 and Christian Thompson’s Untitled (Banksia leaf) 2007.

Suitable for ages 5 to 10 years. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
