Artist statement:

Floating nostalgia is inspired by simplicity and childhood imagination. A major motif in this drawing is bubbles, which are reminiscent of childhood play as bubble-making toys are often gifted to children. The free-floating nature of bubbles parallels the feeling of being free to express your imagination as a child, while creating slight distortions in the figure; a reference to how memories from this time are often distorted. This, in addition to the idealistic light source on the subject, is intended to portray the aspects of childhood that are romanticized later in life, focusing on the freedom to express your imagination as it is more accepted at this age.
